Today, I had my meetup in New York City (NYC Aspiring/Service Entrepreneurs) and right as we were about to begin the presentation, 3 employees from meetup.com randomly showed up! I was amazed, shocked, and overjoyed that they actually came for a surprise visit. They brought me a cute little gift basket, invitation to their headquarters, and a bottle of vodka for the group. (I didn’t get a sip!) I made a post over a month ago about how meetup.com wasn’t so friendly to me about my self nomination for organizer of the week. They seemed rather hostile towards me about my age, but then it was great to see them actually come and visit me in person. I take back all of those mean words :)

I think it’s great that meetup employees actually go out and go to these meetups themselves! The fact that they showed interest and support really made me feel great as an organizer. I feel like the company has a soul and something more to them than just a simple website. Really smart company politics right there! There’s nothing better than actively participating WITH the customers.

I came to realize that attendance was much worse on my thursday meetup in comparison to the ones I had on Monday or Tuesday. My meetup members agreed that people were much more open earlier in the week, so I’ll keep that into consideration. Great people came and everybody seemed to have had a good time, so I’m really please with how everything went.
